Dresses and Drama
So these last couple of weeks have really been eventful. First off, one of my childhood friends is home from his mission Michael Magistro. It seems sooo long ago that he left and now he's back! So much has happened while he's been gone, I get a headrush when I think about all of it. And then another good friend of mine Casey Saunders is home from his mission also! Which means that Josh Edwards should be coming home soon as well. It's crazy to see how much people can change in the span of a year or two. I've changed too! And it's especially noticable to me when I'm with all those friends of mine that I used to hang out with in Junior High and High School, we all used to like the same things and have the same ideas and opinions back then (it seems evident to me now that that was just apart of being a girl, you just went along with whatever anyone else was saying). Now we get in a group together and start talking and its like "WOW" maybe I shouldn't have said that out loud. Also, I "almost kinda sorta" became and Aunt for the 9th time. Isn't that crazy!?!? I'm not even 20 and I have 9 Nephews and Nieces well technically 8 but Keira will someday be my neice. Derricks sister-in-law Kristi had her baby on Saturday morning! From what I heard it was pretty rough but definietly worth it. I would have to agree, baby Keira is a b-e-a-utiful little girl. She's so going to be spoiled. It has seemingly become harder and harder for me to go to weddings and see my friends and families babies. It has also become more aparent to me that I look at things that I never used to look at or for. It mostly started out when Derrick took me to Schubach wedding rings to talk to his friend who was talking to girls who worked there. BAD IDEA!! I am a sucker for big-glitzy-buckwild rings. So he's talking and I'm like going apeshit like "ooo---ooo!----ooooo". AND THEN I SAWRRR IT. "BINGO-WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER" was all that was going on in my mind at that point in time. Ugh I seriously like melt when I think about this ring, it was so pretty I can't even describe it. So I like try it on and study it and I'm like GOO-GOO eyed and I can tell Derrick is severly regretting taking me in there. So his friends LEAVE and we're still there, and so comes the "rain on my parade" of all questions you ask when you're in a ring store----"How much does it cost?" And like I can feel Derrick just wincing as if he's going to get smacked in the face with a 100 pound block just thinking "EEEE!!!!!". "Well" she says, "Since you know Dan Blair I can give you a discount. This ring is technically $2699, but I'll sell it to you for $1890." WHEW! is what I'm thinking, way less than I thought it would be, the first thing out of Derricks mouth is the much expected gasp of air as he was hit with that 100 pound block. See, $1890 doesn't seem like a whole lot to me for a 1 1/2 carats. $1890 is half of what Derrick pays for 1 semester of school. So its really more of the "holy shit" to Derrick than to me. But I'm dumb. This is what it sort of kind of looks like (except the one I chose was way gliztier http://shopping.schubachstore.com/Style-9443M-Split-Shank-Engagement-Ring-With-Princess-Cut-Moissanite-And-Round-Diamonds) Then the week before that Derrick and I were walking through the mall, and I always stop at Alysses Bridal just because I can. And I will always point out the dresses I think are pretty to Derrick. Derrick HATES anything that involves: frill, beads, lace. Basically anything that goes on a wedding dress. So I get irritated (go figure) and decide to rush him through all the dresses my size asking whether or not he likes the dress. Finally I hear "That one". Low and behold its the most popular dress of the entire season. The one with the sash around the waste and is gathered all around the bottom. But we ended up agreeing on this one http://beautifullymodest.com/store/wedding-dresses/p601/. I LOVE IT! It has very little beading, but it does have beading. AND! if I decide to go with a sash it won't look funky. Derrick still seems convinced that his wedding colors HAVE to be brown and pink. I'm going to ask him to compromise to Brown-Cream-and Teal. GORGEOUS! Haha jk. But yeah anyways where was I? So I've got the ring and the dress, the colors. Ha if Derrick finds out about this blog I'm dead. But yeah, my friends are all married and today my friend was like "O yeah how long have you and your boyfriend been together?"...I was like crap..."A Year". They were like "HOLY! Why aren't you married?" I was like ..uhhhhhh. And even if we were engaged the problem arises that I don't think our parents would come. Ha why? His parents wouldn't come because mine would be there, and my parents would just be upset the whole time. Who knows a freaking cat fight might arise. That's just too much drama for me and Derrick to sort through. So if we did get married there would not be a line, and we'd have to like devide the grounds for his and my family to stay on either side of. If its not one thing its another right? But still my ever desire to marry Derrick persists and I'm sure that we'll get through it somehow. Because hey he's my best friend and I love him and we both knew what we were getting into. But lets hope for sooner than later.

Super Bangs

Haha the other day I got my hair done. I just went in for a routine cut and chat with my friend who does my hair. It was actually a really delightful little chat, they always are. I just cut my hair a little shorter because it was getting a littly shaggy. She washed my hair (which always feels amazing what is it about other people washing or like rubbing your head? It seriously feels amazing. Don't deny it) and then we got down to the dirty business. My hair is SUPER THICK!! And because I'm not a natural blonde it's even thicker (for some reason bleach does that to me). So we cut here a little and there a little till I had my perfect little bob that I love so much. But then comes the HARD part. MY BANGS. dun dun dun. My entire life I have always had these...lets call them super bangs. They start at one side of my head and go all the way across my face. Many times I've had people be like "How many fingers am I holding up?" or "You look emo with those bangs" or "I can hardly see your face ROY!" Yeah. I do the super bang and I do it fabulously. :). Well this story ends with the usual happy ending I got my super bangs and yes they look nice. And yes ... I can see how many fingers you are holding up.
Stamps and Laughs..just a day in the life of me

So. I find that in my day to day life I never fail to (one way or another) make myself look like a TOTAL idiot. Todays was pretty bad though. My dear friend Kyle wrote me a letter (Kyles on his mission in San Jose) so I (being the good friend I am) wrote him back. It was a 3 page letter telling him all the exciting and exuberant things that are going on in my life. Not. But anyways it was a pretty gosh darn good letter if I say so myself. So once I had finished this heartfelt letter the last thing to do was SEND IT!! Yipee. So I'm at the post office dropping off the bins of mail from my work and I decided to avoid looking for the stamps I bought sometime last year that I KNOW are in there somewhere in the deep and ever growing piles of rubbish and buy a bloody stamp. 42 CENTS PEOPLE!!! Talk about inflation. So I get my stamp (did I mention I had my nails done? They look fab but they're long) and I'm standing there trying to get the peely back off, because most stamps have the peely back right? So I'm there yadda yadda yadda, 15 MINUTES!!! MAYBE 20 I dunno I'm so caught up in trying to get this bloody peely back off I've like totally lost track of time, and mind you like 30 people have come in done their business and left. But no, here I am trying relentlessly to get this stupid stamp to come apart. FINALLY I'm beyond humiliation and I turn to this remotely cute guy standing next to me (who mind you does have a ring on that oh so important finger) and asked him if HE could get the stamp on my letter. He fiddles with it for a second then looks at me and says blankly "I think you're supposed to lick it". "SHUT UP?" was all that was going through my head. And so then I have the audacity to freakin ask the guy to kindly lick my stamp and place it on my letter, because by then he'd had his hands like all over it, and lets face it I'm kind of a germ freak. Yeah,...then to top it off as we're kinda having a laugh and I thanked him he says as he's leaving "Hey no problem I'm here anyday from around 1 - 2" Cherry on the top for sure. Yes it seems that without fail I some way or another have those blonde moments. And like even as I thought about it later that day he probably thought it was some pathetic way of hitting on him like "Hey wanna lick my stamp?" "Ooo you're a big strong man...that..tongue..of yours" WOW this has gone too far. ALRIGHTY well thats it. TA DA!
